A BI-MSc research grant is available for scientists who currently hold a MSc degree in Science or Engineering disciplines within the framework of Bio-derived olefins conversion using reaction-induced self-separating catalysts/ CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Project 030075, financed by national funds through FCT/MEC (PIDDAC) and, when applicable, co-financed by FEDER under the PT2020 Partnership Agreement, under the following conditions

Admission requirements:

Master of Science (MSc) degree (or integrated masters) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related areas;

Preference for research experience in line with the activities to be developed.

 

 

Activity Outline:

The main research activity is the synthesis of molybdenum and tungsten compounds via simple, cheap synthesis routes. The synthesized compounds should be effective catalysts for the conversion of bio-derived olefins to useful bioproducts (involving oxidation and/or acid catalysis), and preferably act as Reaction Induced-Self Separation (RI-SS) catalysts.

 

Legislation and regulations: The fellowship is in accordance with Law Nº. 40/2004, 18th August (Research Fellow Statute) and regulations for Advanced Training of Human Resources of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) I.P. — no. 234/2012, no. 326/2013 and no. 339/2015 (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt) and the Regulation of Scientific Research Grants from the University of Aveiro – Regulation nº 341/2011, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, n.º 98, 20th Maio.

 

Workplace: The work will be carried out at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Isabel Gonçalves (Associate Professor, CICECO, University of Aveiro), Anabela Valente (Principal Investigator, CICECO, University of Aveiro) and Patrícia Neves (Post-Doctoral Associate, CICECO, University of Aveiro).

 

 

Duration and scope of activity: The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months on an exclusivity basis, eventually extendable to a maximum of 20 months, and is expected to begin in 1st April 2019.

 

 

Value of monthly maintenance allowance: 980 Euros/month (tax free) according to the official table for Research Grants from FCT - http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores, to be paid monthly via bank transfer.

 

 

Evaluation Criteria and Process: The selection will be based on a curricular evaluation (100%), considering: achievements and curricular evaluation of the candidate (including motivation letter), and adequation of the candidate´s profile to the position requisites and activities to be developed.

 

The jury may require interviews with up to three of the best candidates, in which case the interview will count 35% and the remaining factors indicated above will count 65% of the final mark.

 

In case none of the applicants fulfill satisfactorily the indicated requisites, no contract will be celebrated.

 

The final results of the evaluation will be communicated by e-mail.

 

 

Jury: The jury responsible for the evaluation process is composed by: Isabel Gonçalves (Associate Professor, CICECO, University of Aveiro), Anabela Valente (Principal Investigator, CICECO, University of Aveiro) and Patrícia Neves (Post-Doctoral Associate, CICECO, University of Aveiro).

·      Curriculum Vitae, dated and signed, indicating all relevant information and a description of previous activities in scientific projects;

·      Copy of identity card or passport;

·      Copy of the certificate (and final classification) of the MSc degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related areas;

·      Copy of the certificate (and final classification) of the graduation course;

·      Application/motivation letter.
