The Portuguese Institute of International Relations of the New University of Lisbon (IPRI) offers one Research Assistant position within the framework of the project DEMOCRACY IN TIMES OF CRISIS: POWER AND DISCOURSE IN A THREE-LEVEL GAME – IPRI-UNL, reference: PTDC/IVC-CPO/2247/2014), funded by the Government of Portugal through the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology/Ministry of Science, Technology, and Higher Education FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC), under the following conditions:

Scientific area: Political Science

Requirements for applicants:

- BA in political science, sociology, economics or related disciplines
- Proficiency in English (excellent spoken and written skills)
- Experience in conducting academic research
- Solid knowledge of public policy and Housing and/or Environmental Policies

Activities to be developed: The work plan for the position of research assistant includes the collection and coding of data, the transcription of interviews and text edition.

Legislation and rules: The rules applied will be those described in the Research Fellowship Holder Statute (PT Law No. 40/2004, issued August 18) and the FCT Regulation for Research Studentships and Fellowships - 2018 (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/2018RegulationFellowships.pdf).

Workplace: The grant holder will develop his/her activities in the IPRI, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Catherine Moury.

Grant duration: The position is for a term of 7 months, starting on April 2019, non-renewable.

Monthly stipend: The salary will be 745,00 Euros (not taxed), according to the table of stipends granted directly by the FCT-Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en) and paid monthly by bank transfer. In addition, the stipend may include social security benefits (Seguro Social Voluntário), if requested by the scholarship holder.

Evaluation criteria: The applicants will be selected according to the following criteria: (a) Curriculum evaluation, taking into consideration the essential and desired requirements, which will be valued between 0 and 5 points; (b) Optional interview, depending on the decision of the evaluation committee, also valued between 0 and 5 points. If an interview takes place, the weighting of each of the selection criteria is of 50 percent. If an interview is to take place, applicants will be informed by e-mail.

Publication of results: Results will be posted on IPRI’s webpage as a list of candidates ranked according to their final evaluation. The awarded applicant will be notified by e-mail.
