Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related fields. Good knowledge of English (oral and written). Track record in Neuroscience. The successful candidate will join the CNC-team to carry out tasks in the research project EPILEPSIA2AR: A2A receptors control axon formation during neuronal development: new strategies to arrest epileptogenesis, relevant to the research activities of the Brain Development and Disease lab of the CNC, namely on the mechanisms involved in axonal growth during neurodevelopment. Thus, candidates with expertise in Biochemical and Cellular Biology techniques, such as primary neuronal cultures, cell line cultures, immunocytochemistry and fluorescence imaging, and in the study of axonal growth during neurodevelopment will be valued.

Duration: 12 months non-renewable. It cannot be extended beyond the end date of the project

Value of monthly allowance: The successful candidate will receive a monthly allowance stipend of 989,70 Euro according to the FCT monthly maintenance stipend (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), and Social Security insurance if requested. This corresponds to an amount covering for a comfortable living in our society.
Selection methods: Curricular evaluation (80%) and Interview (20%). At least the 2 best candidates will be selected for the interview.
Selection and attribution criteria: In curricular evaluation will be consider: curriculum vitae (CV - 40%) and profile adequacy, namely, knowledge in primary neuronal cultures, cell line cultures, immunocytochemistry and fluorescence imaging, and in the study of axonal growth during neurodevelopment (PA - 40%). In the profile adequacy, experience in the study of purinergic receptors will be valued. In the interview (I - 20%) the selection panel will evaluate the knowledge on these topics, critical thinking, and motivation. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Final grade (FG) will be obtained using the following formula: FG = 0.4*CV + 0.4*PA + 0.2*I. The final classification system for candidates is expressed on a scale of 0 to 100.
