Job description:
The Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Laboratory (LIACC) (http://www.liacc.up.pt) offers one advanced postdoctoral research position in the field of Health Informatics.
The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science of the University of Porto is a research centre that has already attained a good degree of visibility at both the national and the international levels. Its main aim is to pursue research, both at the theoretical and practical levels, in order to increase the quality of software in what concerns, for instance, declarativity, distributiveness, adaptativeness and flexibility.
LIACC has a close connection to the first MSc in Health Informatics in Portugal trough the Science Faculty. Responsibilities of successful candidates include leading research in Health Informatics, namely by, cooperating with ongoing research projects, leading new research projects and (co-)supervising PhD students. The working language is English.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary in accordance with the Portuguese university regulations for a researcher. The contract offered will have duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement. The annual gross income will be 3,038.06 Euros x 14 months (approximately 55K USD). Taxes will be deduced according to the national law. Yearly upgrades to correct for inflation will be calculated according to the national rules.
APPLICANTS
Applicants should have at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience in a relevant area, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or Medicine. Candidates should have a high quality research record, know-how and research experience in any sub-area of Health Informatics, namely electronic patient records, clinical decision support systems, knowledge extraction methods in healthcare and security in healthcare information systems. The successful candidate is expected to carry out research in one of these areas.
