Research field: Materials Science and Engineering
Applicants must have a minimum of an MSc degree in materials science and engineering, chemistry, physics, or related areas. Previous knowledge on computational materials chemistry techniques is preferential.
The objective of the work plan is the study of the structural properties, water adsorption and ion transport in proton or hydroxyl conducting polymers and organic-inorganic hybrids for application in fuel cells and electrolyzers, through a combination of experimental and atomistic simulation methods.
Legislation and regulations: The fellowship is in accordance with Law Nº. 40/2004, 18th August (Research Fellow Statute) and Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia — no. 234/2012, no. 326/2013 and no. 339/2015 (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt) and the Regulation of Scientific Research Grants from the University of Aveiro – Regulation n.º 341/2011, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, n.º 98, 20th Maio.
Workplace: The work will be carried out at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Filipe Figueiredo and José Richard Gomes.
Duration and scope of activity: The fellowship has a duration of 12 months on an exclusivity basis, expected to begin on the 1st of October 2017, and extendable until December 2019.
Value of monthly maintenance allowance: 980€ according to the official table for Research Grants from FCT - http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores, to be paid monthly via bank transfer.
Evaluation Criteria and Process: The evaluation criteria are: academic curriculum (50%), previous experience in areas relevant for the proposed activities, including publications and laboratory work (30%), and an interview (20%).
Jury: The Jury responsible for the evaluation process is composed by Doctor Filipe Miguel Henriques Lebre Ramos Figueiredo as President, Doctor José Richard Baptista Gomes and Professor Jorge Ribeiro Frade.
Announcement of the result: The final results are presented in the form of a list ordered by final mark, which is on display at the Complexo dos Laboratórios Tecnológicos da Universidade de Aveiro, and sent by email to the selected applicant.
