Job summary:

CUBE, the Research Unit of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics at the Catholic University of Portugal, is awarding one BGCT Scholarship (Bolsa de Gestão de Ciência e Tecnologia) in the frame of the RD&T Strategic Project reference PEst-OE/EGE/UI0407/2013 funded with national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC).

Candidates should be holders of a Bachelor’s degree (licenciatura). Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in assisting the management of scientific projects (assisting in funding applications, reports, Human Resources management, etc.), institutional contacts management and international work environment.


Job description:

The overall objective of activities undertaken by the fellow will be: non-scientific management of ongoing projects, assistance in project funding applications, assistance in strategic planning and reporting, institutional contacts management, organization of conferences and seminars, web management, information management and dissemination.
The fellow will have to perform tasks with high responsibility at the CUBE's Management Office under the supervision of the research unit coordinator.

Requirements for admission
Candidates should be holders of a Bachelor’s degree (licenciatura). Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the following points:
 1) assisting the management of scientific projects (writing of proposals, reports, Human Resources management, etc);
2) scientific secretariat; 3) web pages management; 4) working in an international environment.
Candidates must also have initiative, great organizational skills, flexibility, autonomy, good relational skills and be able to meet deadlines. It is mandatory a good domain of English and Portuguese and of the current software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc…).

Work plan
The successful candidate will conduct various tasks such as:
• Non-scientific management of the unit projects;
• Assist project funding applications;
• Institutional contacts management;
• Assist strategic planning and reporting;
• Organization of conferences and seminars;
• Management of CUBE web pages;
• Information management and dissemination.

Legislation framework
A fellowship contract will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT “Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources”, in accordance with Law 40/2004, of 18 August, as amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of 27 August, and as amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of 29 October and by Law No. 12/2013, of January 29, and Decree-Law No. 89/2013 of 9 July. And also by the FCT, I.P. Fellowships Regulation of 2013 approved by Regulation No. 234/2012, of June 25, as amended by Regulation No 326/2013 of 27 August 2013, in force (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt)

Fellowship duration

The fellowship will be awarded for a period of 12 months, starting in September 2017, and can be renewed conditionally based on the performance of the individual up to the fullest extent permitted by applicable regulations. The position will be governed by the rules of both FCT and CATÓLICA-LISBON. During this period the BGCT fellow is expected to work full time on this project.

Monthly allowance
The fellowship amounts to € 1245, according to table values of the fellowships awarded directly by the FCT, IP. (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).
The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and, if not covered by any social protection scheme can ensure the right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance scheme, pursuant to "Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social".
The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

Selection Process
Applications will be initially screened on the basis of two written elements:
- A letter elaborating on the motivations for applying to the BGCT;
- A short CV highlighting the elements relevant for the fulfillment of the preferential requirements (selected candidates will be asked to provide an official certificate at admission).

The selection of candidates will be made by curriculum evaluation 80% and 20% interview (selected applications only). Based on these elements, an internal evaluation committee – composed by Prof. Pedro Oliveira, Prof. David Patient and Prof. Leonor Modesto - will rank-order the applications and make a final decision on the selected applicant.
