Job summary:

CUBE - Católica Lisbon Research Unit in Business and Economics-GES/00407 at CATÓLICA-LISBON, Catholic University of Portugal, is awarding one Research Fellowship (BI) in Economics in the frame of the RD&T Strategic Project reference UID/GES/00407/2013, with the financial support of FCT/MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC).

Job description:

This research position will consist in a full time work during 9 months, under the supervision of Professor Catarina Reis. The selected candidate will conduct research in the field of Macroeconomics, mostly focused on optimal and sustainable taxation. Candidates must hold a Master degree in Economics.

PREFERENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must have completed a Master degree in Economics.
- Strong background in theoretical macroeconomics.
-  Ability to work in an organized and structured way and good social skills.
- Responsibility to work independently, according to the instructions received.

WORK PLAN
The Fellow collaborating in this project will work in developing optimal taxation models, both theoretically and numerically. The fellow will also collaborate in the creation and maintenance of the macro excellence center of the university.

TIMETABLE
The fellowship will be awarded for a period of 9 months, starting in December 2017, and can be renewed conditionally based on the performance of the individual. The position will be governed by the rules of both FCT and Católica-Lisbon. During this period the BI fellow is expected to work full time on this project.

LEGISLATION FRAMEWORK
A fellowship contract will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT “Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources”, in accordance with Law 40/2004, of 18 August, as amended and republished by
Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of 27 August, and as amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of 29 October and by Law No. 12/2013, of January 29, and Decree-Law No. 89/2013 of 9 July. And also by the FCT, I.P. Fellowships Regulation of 2013 approved by Regulation No. 234/2012, of June 25, as amended by Regulation No 326/2013 of 27 August 2013, in force (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt)


MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
The fellowship amounts of € 980, according to table values of the fellowships awarded directly by the FCT, IP. (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).
The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and, if not covered by any social protection scheme can ensure the right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance scheme, pursuant to "Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social".
The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

SELECTION PROCESS
Applications will be initially screened on the basis of the following elements:
- A letter elaborating on the motivations for applying to the BI
- A short CV highlighting the elements relevant for the fulfillment of the preferential requirements (selected candidates will be asked to provide an official certificate at admission)
The selection of candidates will be made by curriculum evaluation 80% and 20% interview (only selected candidates). Based on these elements, an internal evaluation committee - composed by the BI supervisor Prof. Catarina Reis, Prof. Leonor Modesto and Prof. David Patient - will rank-order the applications and
make a final decision on the selected applicant.
