A call is currently open for a PosDoc fellowship under the project “Por3O - Portuguese Olive Oil Omics for traceability and authenticity”, PTDC/AGR-PRO/2003/2014 (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016809) cofinanced by FEDER and Orçamento de Estado, through Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: PhD in Chemistry, Food Science or related areas
Admission requisites: PhD in Chemistry, Food Science or related areas with previous hands-on experience on the analysis of bulk and compound specific stable isotopes (C, N, O, H, S) in food matrices by EA-IRMS and GC-IRMS. Previous experience in ICP-MS elemental analysis in food matrices will also be considered as a relevant skill.
Por3O Project is based on a genomic and metabolomic approaches and the main goals are: the authenticity of extra virgin olive oils, considering geographic and varietal aspect, and the genuineness of the product to yield a useful tool for screening for fraud and for the olive oil certification.
The PosDoc fellow should therefore:
· be able to perform automously the analytical measurements of bulk and compound specific carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen and sulfur isotopes in olive oils;
· be able to work in multidisciplinary teams;
· collaborate in teaching and supervising of undergraduate and graduate students
Legislation: A fellowship contract will be made between Évora University and the fellow, following the set of rules listed in the Évora University Research Statute (service order nº1/2011), the Statute of the Research Fellow (Law nº40/2004 de 18 de Agosto e Decreto-Lei nº 202/2012 de 27 de Agosto), and respecting all the legislation and regulations listed in the Regulamento de Formação Avançada e Qualificação de Recursos Humanos da FCT. http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml
Place of work: The wok will be developed in HERCULES laboratory of Évora University (http://www.hercules.uevora.pt/) under the supervision of Prof. Doutora Cristina Barrocas Dias and Prof. Doutora Maria João Cabrita.
The fellowship is expected to starts at January 2018. The fellowship will be for 12 months, and can be renewable for an additional period of 10 months. (Terminus of project 31-10-2019)
Payment: The monthly allowance will be €1495, in accordance with the values paid by directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment can be made by check or bank transfer.
Selection procedure: The selection will be made in two phases. In the first phase, and using the following parameters, candidates will be ranked according to their curricula vitae:
a) Previous experience and backgroung according to the “admission requisites” (maximum 60 points).
b) Adequacy of the scientific area of expertise (maximum 10 points).
c) Scientific production (scientific papers, oral and poster communications in scientific meetings, maximum 10 points).
The three candidates with the highest number of points in the 1st phase will be selected for the 2nd phase.
The final rank of the candidates will be made according to the following:
a) Curriculum evaluation (1st phase, máximum 80 points).
b) Interview (máximum 20 points).

Publicity and notification of results: The results will be made public by posting them in a public place in Laboratório HERCULES, Palácio do Vimioso, Évora. The candidates will also be notified by e-mail.
Deadline and form of application : The call is open 29 october to 10 november and the results are expected to be published after 13 november 2017.
