The successful candidate will be expected to integrate and strengthen the ATP-group at the Center of Theoretical and Computational Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
The research will primarily involve the analytical and numerical study of evolutionary processes. Priority will be given to the study of the evolutionary dynamics of cooperation on complex networks (using evolutionary game theory), the somatic evolution of cancer and cancer treatment, the evolution of the neuro-architecture of decision making, and the evolution, development and repair of living tissue.
A solid mathematical background, combined with computational experience will be favored, and a background in the evolutionary dynamics of complex systems is a plus.
The position is available for a period of five years during which the successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research project in CFTC, and to contribute to the postgraduate training programmes of the UL, including the supervision of PhD students.
Qualifications: The candidate must have a PhD degree in Natural or Social Sciences, and at least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience and scientific production at a post-doctoral level. In exceptional cases, duly justified, FCT may consider accepting applicants with less than 3 years of post-doctoral experience.
