Scientific area: Chemical Engeneering
Work plan: The research activities focuses supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of vegetable biomass aiming the production of high added value extracts and their characterization. The exprimental results will be modelled for simulation and optmization of the extraction and purification unit, and for scale-up studies.
Admission requirements: The candidate must have:
a) an Integrated Master degree in Chemical Engeneering or legally equivalent 1st and 2nd cycle study programmes in Chemical Engineering, organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process.
b) good grades and/or relevant experience in mass transfer and separation processes, and proven skills in computational and numerical methods for chemical engineering. The candidate must be fluent in english.
Working place: The work will be carried out at University of Aveiro, RAIZ – Institute of Forest and Paper Research (Eixo – Aveiro), PCI – Science and Innovation Park (Aveiro), and in the teaching places of the Doctoral program.
Grant duration: 12 months (and may be renewed successively), with starting planned for 2018, June.
Scientific supervision: Professors Carlos Manuel Silva and Inês Portugal.
Grant financial conditions: The value of the grant is 980 €, in agreement with the “Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação Científica da Universidade de Aveiro – Regulamento n.º 341/2011, publicado em Diário da República, 2ª série, n.º 98, de 20 de Maio”. The fellowship will be paid monthly by check, bank transfer, or another equivalent method.
Selection method: Analysis of CV (70%) and relevant experience for the proposed workplan (30%). To clarify specific aspects the top 3 candidates might be called for a personal interview. In this case, the previous classification will account for 70 % and the interview for 30%.
