1. Library and archive systems, their organizational models and networking;
2. ICT impact in changes in libraries and archives;
3. Analysis of information circulation, patterns and document circuits in different times and configurations.
Requirements
The selection panel will look for candidates with:
· Clear research interests in some of the above mentioned fields;
· Sound research skills, using both qualitative and quantitative methods, and in both cases, using data analysis software;
· Good spoken and written communication skills, including in English language;
· Willingness to learn Portuguese, if this is not his or her native language;
· Three years research experience and post doc relevant scientific production;
· Team working experience;
· Good connections within the international LIS community.
Working plan
The work of the research associate will be carried out within the above mentioned framework, under the supervision of the Research Group coordinator, and shall include the following tasks:
· Conceive, propose, look for financing and carry out at least one research project during the contract;
· Assist in teaching activities and in the organization of seminars of Information Science;
· Identify and locate internationally relevant publications, conferences and seminars in Library and Information Science, and delineate devices for the dissemination of this information in order to facilitate the participation of researchers, making these devices available to the wider scientific community;
· Write at least four research papers in international peer reviewed journals.
Duration and regime
The contract will last for five years, and is expected to start during the last quarter of 2008. The work shall be carried out at the University of Évora in a full time regime of exclusivity.
Academic qualifications
The successful applicant shall have preferably a PhD, or a relevant curricular profile in the field of Library and Information Science.
Payment
The research associate shall receive 14 months per year a salary equivalent to the level 195 of the Scientific Research Career salary table, and all due social benefits.

Selection procedures
The selection shall take into account the merit of the candidate, considering the academic education, curricular profile and research training and experience. The selection panel may
interview some candidates after a preliminary curricular selection. During this process some candidates may be asked to arrange for two referees.

Conditioning clause
The contract of the research associate under the terms of this invitation is conditioned to the approval by Science and Technology Foundation of a contract in the context of the program of hiring doctorates for the national science and technology system.
