GECAD (GECAD–EEA/00760/2019) is recruiting 2 researchers with a MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, informatics, or similar area for a “Bolsa de Investigação”. This call concerns research activities developed in GECAD in the area of Power and Energy Systems. This project is funded by Portuguese funds through FCT/MCTES.

4. ACTIVITIES AND WORKPLAN:
GECAD (GECAD– EEA/00760 com o apoio financeiro da FCT/MCTES através de fundos nacionais e quando aplicável cofinanciado pelo FEDER, no âmbito do Acordo de Parceria PT2020) is recruiting 2 researchers with a MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or Informatics or similar area for a “Bolsa de Investigação”, to collaborate in the research and development activities in the area of Power and Energy Systems. We are looking for researchers with strong scientific background and motivation in distributed generation, distribution network operation and planning, electricity markets, namely in the context of the intensive use of renewable and distributed energy resources. The candidates should have experience in the electric grid and its components modelling, considering optimization. Applicants should have experience dealing with the conception, development and computational implementation of solutions for large dimension real-world power systems problems. This project is funded by Portuguese funds through FCT/MCTES.
The work plan involves the following tasks:
- Design and computational implementation of methods, algorithms, and computational applications;
- Integration and reformulation of existing and developed computational applications;
- Reports and scientific papers preparation;
- Laboratorial and prototyping activities, including case studies preparation, simulation, and result analysis and presentation;
- Communication and dissemination activities.

The candidates to be selected will be scientifically supervised by Doctor Pedro Faria.

7. REMUNERATION
Monthly value of the grant: € 989,70/month, paid by bank transfer (according to the table of stipends of FCT:
http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en), supported through the PAD n.ºC42263 and C42264.
8. CANDIDATE SELECTION METHOLOGY AND EVALUATION PANEL
Only candidates that have presented the complete set of application documents will be admitted. The selection method will take into account the following components: Curriculum vitae evaluation (60%) and interview (40%). The interview will be conducted in English.
Evaluation panel: Doctor Pedro Nuno Silva Faria, Prof. Zita Maria Almeida Vale, and Prof. Sérgio Filipe Carvalho Ramos. Members of the substitute panel: Prof. Maria Goreti Carvalho Marreiros and Prof. Carlos Fernando da Silva Ramos.
9. RESULTS PUBLICATION AND NOTIFICATION
The candidates will be individually notified by email message on the final evaluation results.
10. PROFILE
Academic Degree: MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or Informatics or similar research field.
Minimum profile required: Solid scientific background and relevant research experience in the respective graduation field. Writing and speaking proficiency in English. Good skills for team work. Previous work experience in research activities involving intelligent systems, modelling, simulation, and optimization. Good programming skills and experience in the development of artificial intelligence based computer applications. Authorship of scientific papers in the targeted research fields.
Preferred profile: Experience in real and/or laboratorial prototypes, involving software and hardware.

13. SELECTION RESERVATION
