Research field: Materials Science and Engineering
Master´s Degree in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or related areas. Previous knowledge on biopolymers and electrical characterization and water sorption measurements of polymeric membranes is preferential.
The objective of the work plan is the synthesis and the study of the structural properties, water adsorption and ion transport in biopolymers for application in fuel cells and electrolyzers.

Workplace: The work will be carried out at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Filipe Figueiredo.
Duration and scope of activity: The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months on an exclusivity basis, eventually extendable until the end of the project, and is expected to begin in January 2020 until 31 December 2020.
Value of monthly maintenance allowance: €989.70/month (tax free) according to the official table for Research Grants from FCT - http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores, to be paid monthly via bank transfer.
Evaluation Criteria and Process: The evaluation criteria are: academic curriculum (50%), previous experience in areas relevant for the proposed activities (50%). If the elements of the Jury consider necessary, the top 3 candidates are interviewed. In case of interview, curricular evaluation and previous experience will account for 85%, and the interview for 15%. If none of the candidates has an adequate profile for the project tasks, or a high-quality curricular profile, the Jury may not attribute the grant to any of the candidates.
Jury: The Jury responsible for the evaluation process is composed by Professor Ana Margarida Madeira Viegas de Barros Timmons as President, Doctor Paula Cristina Vieira Barbosa and Doctor José.R.B. Gomes.
Announcement of the result: The final results will be publicly displayed as an ordered list, according to the final score of the candidates, in a visible and public location of CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro. The selected candidate will be notified by e-mail.
