MSc. Fellowship

A call is open for one fellowship for candidates with MSc. degree within the project “DiadES - Assessing and enhancing ecosystem services provided by diadromous fish in a climate change context” (EAPA_18/2018), funded by the European Union through Interreg Atlantic Area programme, under the following conditions:
Scientific area: Biological Sciences
Admission Requirements: BSc in Biology, or similar areas, and MSc in Molecular Biology, or other similar areas. Recognised experience in population genetics, phylogeography; Molecular genetics laboratory methods (e.g. DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing); Treatment and analysis of molecular genetics data.
Work Plan: Support the development of sampling campaigns; Laboratorial processing of fish samples; Data treatment and analysis; Production of material for project disclosure and public awareness activities; Production of reports and preparation of scientific documents for publication.
Applicable Legislation and Regulations: The fellowship will be attributed through a contract between the University of Évora and the selected candidate, under the Research Fellowship Regulation of the University of Évora (Order no. 1/2011), the laws no. 40/2004, dated August 18 and no. 202/2012, dated August 27, (Research Fellowship Holder Statute), and the Regulation for Studentships and Fellowships by the Portuguese Science Foundation https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamentos .
Workplace: Activities will be developed at the University of Évora, Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, Rua da Escola Politécnica 58, Lisbon and in MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre (Campus FCUL in Lisbon), under the scientific supervision of Professor Pedro Raposo de Almeida and Doctor Catarina Mateus.
Duration: The fellowship will have the duration of 6 months, estimated to begin in February 2020. The contract might be, eventually, renewed to the maximum of 18 months.
Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 989,70, being the payment made monthly by bank transfer. The fellow will be insured against personal accidents and has the right to social security by joining the Volunteer Social Insurance System.
Selection Methods: The selection methods will be the following: CV evaluation (30%); Relevant previews working experience (70%). If needed, the jury may conduct interviews to a maximum of 5 selected candidates, considered as the more adequate, after CV evaluation, to the nature of the planned tasks.

Announcement/notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be advertised through a sorted list publicly displayed at the Department of Biology of the School for Science and Technology of the University of Évora, and the approved candidate will be notified by email. Within the terms and rights of Preliminary Hearing, the final classification will be also announced, by any written mean, to all candidates.
Application Deadline and Presentation: This call is open from 22 November to 27 December 2019, and the final evaluation results will be disclosed until 15 January 2020.
